Key Stage 2 Writers: Achieving Level 4.

'Find your Voice'

A course for Year 6 writers.

A focused set of sessions on how to do better in the writing test. For most children at a Level 3 already but just lacking confidence and security in writing, or making unforced errors that reduce their marks, a Level 4 is eminently achievable with coaching. This course will look at how to sharpen up the word and sentence level skills, how to work out what you're meant to be writing and why, and the requirements of different genres. Participants will be provided with revision resources to take away for revision over the period from Easter to the SATs in May.

Dates: Tuesday April 10th to Friday April 13th inclusive, from 9am until 12.30. Drink and snack will be provided. Children need not bring a pencil case - all resources are provided - but must bring a copy of their latest piece of story writing. Please drop off at the venue at 8.50 promptly to ensure a timely start, and pick up promptly, as afternoon courses are also taking place.

When you book please email with details of your child's latest teacher assessed level, to determine if they can be fitted into the group.

Key Stage 2 Mathematicians: Achieving Level 4

'Add It Up'

A course for Year 6 mathematicians.

Many children who are struggling at Level 3 in Key Stage 2 maths, and need to achieve Level 4 in their Year 6 SATs have issues with recall and use of times tables, accurate use and application of the four operations (adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying) and problems with using these operations to solve word and number problems. This course will address these problems, and give children greater confidence in approaching the papers they will sit in May. (Exam technique is also taught.) Participants will also be provided with revision resources to take away for revision over the period from Easter to the SATs in May.

Dates: Tuesday April 10th to Friday April 13th inclusive, from 2.00pm until 5.30. Drink and snack will be provided. Children need not bring a pencil case - all resources are provided.  Please drop off at the venue at 1.50 promptly to ensure a timely start, and pick up promptly, as coaching also takes place in the evenings.
